Recycling program gives tennis waste a second life – with style

This week, waste at the Credit One Charleston Open is being given a second life.

Tennis fans certainly know how to make good use of a used can of tennis balls around the house. But did you know that everything you throw away this week at the Credit One Charleston Open will be given a second life?

That’s thanks to RePower South, REPREVE, and Vapor Elemental Wear, who have come together to turn your recyclables into sun protection performance gear. In fact, the apparel worn by tournament officials, staff, volunteers, ball kids and more if all Vapor.

It’s game, set and match for reusable fashion.

The Vapor apparel is lightweight UPF 50+ – and includes shirts, hoodies, and more, which are all made with recycled plastic water bottles.

This week, don’t worry about searching for special recycling bins at the event; all materials will be collected in the same containers, then sorted and recycled at RePower South’s facility right here in Berkeley County.
