Charleston Open Player Party Kicks Off 2024 Tournament in Style
As Leylah Fernandez rocked out to the tunes of a live cover band and former champions Ons Jabeur and Daria Kasatkina were wowed by a magician, 2019 winner Madison Keys could be found in the sushi line.
All four of the WTA stars were having a ball at the annual Credit One Charleston Open official player party, held this year at The Peacock in downtown Charleston.
The three floors of the venue have a sleek Art Deco feel, and they were packed with new experiences for the over 50 players who attended, including Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens, Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, and tournament ambassadors Tracy Austin, Monica Puig, Alison Riske, Jennifer Brady – and many more.

The magician, Carl Michael (pictured above with Ons), had the particular attention of Jabeur, Kasatkina, Sakkari and others. Trick after trick he left them with shocked looks on their faces. “No way!” Daria Saville yelled at one point, not believing what she had just seen.
There was, of course, the standby classic at the Charleston player party: The (now world-famous) candy bar, decked with Easter-themed sweets and rounded off this year with a s’mores spread, with a small table-side fire included.
Beyond the sushi and sweets, players could build their own salad, seafood or pasta at respective bars, as well as sip on a special non-alcoholic beverage of their choosing.
Watercolor artists were creating real-time portraits of the players and their crews, while Southern Tide provided gift bags of goodies to walk away with, too.
Players enjoyed themselves as they so chose, with many ending up on the dance floor for tunes by The Midnight City – or on the rooftop to have their fortunes told, be wowed by the magician and, of course, indulge in the candy bar.
